Flying

What the hell is this Second Life thing? I've come a long way since I stumbled across this place. I almost walked away half way through orientation Island when my computer froze up but through frustration, tapped the wrong keystroke and ended up flying.

The first teleport landed me on Freebie Island, and onto the back of a Pegasus...

And I've been here ever since.

I'm still "flying" around SL these days, but lately its been on the Back of my MLCC motorcycle, that I had customised by this really cool guy named Jett Skytower who seems to understand how to use the I Paint feature that comes with the newer MLCC Bikes. (A special symbol is displayed on the MLCC Vendors); Or you can just visit the MLCC headquarters.

I absolutely LOVE my bikes, and driving them on some of the creative Sims here in SL, So Much so that I redesigned my own two Homesteads to accommodate my passion.
Its not necessary to join any Bike clubs, or own your own Sim to rezz a bike. Some of the Sims that allow SL citizens to rezz thier own objects on their little stretch on the grid are very friendly and only have a couple of simple rules, one of course being, to have fun.
here are a few of my favorites:
Have fun, Remember to be respectful of other drivers, and The covenant of the Sim that you're on, and with a minimal amount of practice on your new bike, You'll be flying too!

Gull gallery and Galillee, the two Homesteads that I own, will become a full Sim on the grid.

The details of this move are still unknown, and i will be rebuilding, reorganizing, and probably changing Links, slurls, and gathering my objects into my inventory for the next month, but when everything is settled, I will post here there and everywhere to let you know.

The X street merchant statice will not change, because I will have a spot in world to keep at least a couple of magic boxes rezzed for delivery.

Thanks everybody.

Turning Japanese I think I'm turning Japanese, I really think so

Jett Skytower
Is a cool guy I met one morning while out surfing the grid looking for a new Harley.
He actually custom paints the MLCC bikes, (Touted as arguably being the best made bike in SL), with I Paint, and is currently working on my new Tornado.

He's a very talented graphic artist, and I'm looking forward to what he comes up with.

Ps,. He's afraid of clowns

Hobbys, Habbits, Handouts and the importance of Snow Angels

Yea, so ...anyway.
After going three days sans about 10,0000 items missing from my inventory, (OUCH my sides, * throws up hand, holds ribs, laughs hysterically), I decided that I should probably really start to consider planning on coming up with a plan to aproach thinking about cleaning out my inventory...

Yaknow, taking it seriously, or at the very least, thinking about it.

The problem with being an artist in Second Life is, very simply put, There are just way too many different colored crayons in the box, way more than there are hours in the day, so to tear myself away from doing, or learning something creative to do something as mundane as clean up my inventory, go through my transferables and box up last years "Interesting things" catagorize, organize and ready them for thier spot on Freebie Island, is a Saturday moring/ afternoon/ evening, that I'm not particularly looking forward to.

My pallet has expanded. I remeber when I discovered how AWESOME it was to play with pre fabs, and how the first Gull Gallery that I built on Shawnee Preserve, morphed itself, many times over, to include such things as scripted walls that cycled thru a series of ever improved upon textures, and mega prims that when later asembled, took the place of five or six regular prims and afforded me even more prim.
They became more uniform when I learned how to line them up by using the XYZ coordinates in Edit, and then later, found themselves to have more depth and dimension with the optimized textures made seamless, and reloaded onto the grid in the form of png. and tga's 256x256.

Ahhhh, memories. Well, actually, I don't have to remember, cause most of it, if not all, is still sitiing in my inventory, old 1017x 522 jpeg's and all. (if you're an Adobe or psp geek, that line is actually pretty funny:).

As I pull out my new toys, like AV Painter, and Sculpt studio, and cascade my SL viewer, ( my builder's viewer), with my Laptop's browser so I can read the hodgebodged of forum posts, blogs and take in the various tutorials availble on these topics, I play with the idea of downloading Blender or Maya or....
and think about where those new skills might lead me and how much more junk I'll have in my inventory as a result.

Yaknow, actually, as I'm writing this, I realize that my SL inventory is in fact a portfolio and an extremely important tool that I NEED on my journey to becoming a better content provider in SL.
...
Yea, I gotta clean it out, ~ Next Saturday, I'm definately doing that!

Me and the Bird

We've come a long way, this little Gull and I! From the shores of our rented home on Shawnee Preserve, and our first attempt at launching a skybox over it, creating the first Gull gallery, to this back stoop of the latest gallery that takes up a full 4705 sq. meters of the Homestead I now call Home!
We have met a lot of strange and beautiful people along the way here in Second Life. and
I can honestly say that if it weren't for my friends, I think I may have thrown in the towel by now and let the bird fly off the grid somewhere over the ocean of Lucky Strike and it's enormously overpriced tier! ( Not without scripting it to shit on Frank's head first though ;))

I have made many transformations, and almost as many transgressions, but I am grateful for every stumble along that cyber path, because it has brought me to where I am now!

My new home is called Aire Xaris Studios and it is situated on Gull Gallery, which is an actual destination on the grid!

Gull gallery is owned by a lovely man named Gooden Uggla Proprietor of Nuki Nuki Beach, (among many, MANY other things) and he is probably everything that encapulates the best of what can be found here in Second Life. I credit the man with saving me from sailing off the grid and taking the concept of Gull gallery and its peaceful ocean dreamscape of art work, Lighthouse's and beach surf with it.
I have had time here to feel settled, and with that sense of safety has come the influx of creative flow and good feelings.
Gull gallery is open to the public, and is here as a sanctuary of sorts, for all those weary travelers needing a peaceful respite from the sometimes very confusing and almost certainly overwhelming place called second Life.
I look forward to seeing you all!
~Aire

Merging Layers.
The creation of Wonderland Entertainment was in fact a collage, and a collaboration between myself and a friend and was an experiment in meshing two very different worlds and business ventures.
The dissolving of the group in world also saw the end of gaming and its association with gull gallery.
My decision to "Burn" all things Alice is more or less another layer.
Endings are new beginnings, and as I grow to understand the tools I use, I think the pallet should mature as well.

There will be a bonfire of the portfolio, and all things "Wonderland" will be thrown into the fire.
The layer will become 100% opaque, if you will, and I'll be able to conecentrate on more stable backrounds.

Alice series

I don't think the overall composition should be so monochromatic when dealing with subject and lighting. The poses themselves can keep you occupied for hours on end, never mind whatever magic can be performed in photoshop. Alice series is a set of poses and lighting I saved in the studio for quick reference, and for those looking for something a little more expressive. I think the photos should convey much more than just the regular emotions, IE : happy, sad, etc.
They should incorporate the complex, and in capturing the essence of what that pose, lighting, background, clothing, props used, can convey, you in a sense capture a portion of the personality.

What moves you

Note inside champagne glass reads:

Dear Sir,
I saw you once from across the room, and I couldn't help but stare. Your face seemed familiar to me, and I couldn't help but notice that you seemed a bit out of place.

I crossed the room to get a bit closer, and I was detained by friends, and other faces with smiles, and in the moments that I could catch a glimpse, I thought you caught my eye.

~Maybe it was just my imagination, but our gaze seemed to lock for what seemed like an eternity, and in that moment, I was sure that we held each other, and I was very pleased with your company.

By the time I reached where I thought you had been standing, I found only this empty glass, so I left this note in the hopes that you might return to it and into my gaze again.

If by chance you should return, please know that these were my thoughts of you, and that sadly, the moment had passed me by. Perhaps we'll see each other again, and if so, I should very much like it, if you would ask me to dance.

The lady from across the room

Sampling Audio Files

the use of other artist's work, or sampling is permissible and even encouraged as long as proper credit is made mention to the artist. I make sure to put in links and name each artist I sample, region I visit, and work I use.

I am a huge advocate of this site, and I encourage all artists to familiarize themselves with it.

It's a huge success, and a great vehicle for linking back to that artist’s site, or blog and giving exposure to not only your piece, but to the artist who's work helped in its overall composition.
